Jakub Brach

Poland

I was born in 1999 in a small city in Poland. I was interested in space science since kindergarten. I have read a lot of books and watched TV programmes about it. 8 years ago I bought my first telescope so I could observe planets and other space objects. For a few years, I have participated and won physics competitions. But they test our knowledge only. I was never able to use my full prospectives.

What motivated you most to participate to Odysseus contest?

Odysseus contest is different. There we had to use knowledge, abilities and creativity in practice so it is more advanced. Therefore, we decided with my friend to take part in Odysseus. Apart from that, better, computerized telescope as a prize motivated me.

What did you enjoy when you prepared your project?

I enjoyed making the model of our sattelite. But the whole preparation was very exciting for me.

What was the most important thing that you learned during the preparation of your project?

According to my opinion, the most important thing was working in a team. Now I know that we can not make so much alone.

Has the work done for your project affected your decision for studies in space science?

Odysseus let me extend my abilities and I wish to become an engineer, buildinging spacecrafts. I do not want to study space science, because I prefer to be a practic.
