Diogo Goncalves

Portugal

My name is Diogo Goncalves and I am a 17 year old Science and Technology student. I surf, skate, sail, practice kung fu and I’m finishing the conservatoire in cello this year. My main hobbies are electronics and informatics; I’m self-thought in these two areas and want to study them in the future as a professional career. After the Odysseus II contest I began teaching how to code in my school and I love the experience of sharing my knowledge with others.

What motivated you most to participate to Odysseus contest?

I joined this contest mainly because I was tired of the daily routine and needed new experiences. After so much research in the fields of electronics and informatics, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to put my knowledge in practice.

What did you enjoy when you prepared your project?

Everything was amazing in its own way, even the most stressful situations became really amazing learning experiences.

What was the most important thing that you learned during the preparation of your project?

I learned three important things while preparing this project. Schedule and plan, cooperate and never give up; even in the darkest of times.

Has the work done for your project affected your decision for studies in space science?

Through this project we learnt many things about space and the economy around it and I would definitely consider working in the space industry!
